On the 1st of September 2018, Worood Sawalha and Nayef Maqboul headed to take part in the third international instructors course in sports for development in Germany for 10 days. Worood a coach at PS4L and a teacher from Jerusalem and Nayef who is also a coach in PS4L from Nablus, represented PS4L and Palestine amongst 30 instructors from 30 different countries. The course was run by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) together with the Fußball-Bund e.V. (DFB) implemented by GIZ.
Woroud and Nayef represented PS4L as expert speakers in the Joint Symposium on Economy and Social Development 2018: ‘Globalization Revisited’ to be held in Germany at Bad Neuenahr on September 13th, 2018.
The Joint Symposium on Economy and Social Development 2018: ‘Globalization Revisited’ provides a platform for peer-to-peer exchange and know-how transfer between professionals and practitioners in the field of Education, Vocational Training (TVET) and Labour market. As expert practitioners in the field of Sport for Development, they spoke in ‘Sport – moves, connects, educates. How sport can contribute to achieving development goals?’
Worood described her experience as wonderful, and that she is proud that she represented Palestine in the training sessions and that the experience added a lot to her life and her work. Nayef, emphasized on Worood’s words as he said that it was an amazing experience and that the atmosphere, the participants and the instructors of the course were amazing too, he felt that the instructors had so much knowledge and experience and that he felt privileged for having the opportunity to learn from them.
Worood is planning to share her experience with other coaches in Palestine, especially on the topic of sports and development, especially that she has the knowledge of how to choose and deepen the goals regarding the topic. Nayef said that he had gained knowledge about new tools and methods that he can benefit his work and that he now has wider connections with individuals and organizations that support the work of PS4L and Palestinian coaches and help in implementing it. Nayef is planning to share the knowledge he had gained with people from his community and his circle of life-skill coaches, so they can do their jobs on a bigger platform.
