Empowering Girls Through Sports: Energizing Activities in Qalqilya, Al-Jalazone, and Dura
In a powerful initiative to promote girls’ empowerment through physical activity, Sport for Life Organization, in partnership with Free to Run, organized three dynamic sports days across Qalqilya, Al-Jalazone Refugee Camp (Ramallah), and Dura. The events aimed to break social and psychological barriers while fostering health, confidence, and teamwork among young female participants.
In Qalqilya and Al-Jalazone, the sports days brought together 12 enthusiastic girls in each location. The programs featured a mix of:
-
Fun and interactive sports games
-
Running challenges and endurance tests
-
A positive, competitive atmosphere focused on collaboration and empowerment
Each event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, celebrating the girls’ commitment and achievements and reinforcing the values of sportsmanship and self-belief.
In Dura, the energy soared even higher, with 25 young female athletes participating in a full-scale sports event that included:
-
Multiple stations, such as ice-breaking games, warm-up exercises, and skill-building challenges
-
Short-distance sprints and a 3-kilometer race, testing physical endurance and mental resilience
These events successfully achieved their goal of promoting physical fitness, enhancing psychological well-being, and creating safe spaces for girls to connect, compete, and grow. The initiative reinforces the idea that sports are a powerful tool for empowerment, where every step forward is a victory.
