Salah… From Resistance to a Love of Learning

At one of our Temporary Learning Spaces in Gaza, we met Salah, a child who initially refused to join any educational activities. He didn’t feel comfortable in a classroom environment and was frequently absent, which posed a real challenge for the educational team.

However, our belief that every child has their own unique learning path encouraged us to approach Salah with patience and flexibility. We started with small steps—engaging him in interactive activities and educational games that matched his interests, while creating a safe and supportive environment where he could feel a sense of belonging.

Gradually, Salah began to change. His attendance improved, and he started to show genuine interest in learning. Attending was no longer an obligation—it became something he looked forward to. Over time, Salah became one of the most enthusiastic participants, engaging confidently with both his peers and teachers.

Salah’s story is a powerful reminder that psychosocial support, safe spaces, and interactive learning methods can make a real difference in children’s lives, especially in challenging contexts.

Today, Salah is not only committed to learning, but also a living example of how care and opportunity can reopen the door to hope ????
