Raising a White Card
location_on Tulkarem, Palestine
PS4L bi-weekly holds safe spaces for children and youth to play sports. Within the sessions, PS4L professional life skills and sport trainers teach youth about human rights, health, and various sustainable development goals. On April 6th, PS4L Coach Yumon Masri directed a 'Football and Child Right' session for her students in Tulkarem (a city in Palestine).
Within the session, Coach Yumon discussed the importance of knowing the rights of a child while using the game of football to relay her informative session. The students discussed openly what they define as child rights and formulated a list of "Child Rights". For highlights on the session conducted, CLICK HERE.
Throughout the session, Coach Yumon taught various life skills and interpersonal skills as a continued effort to develop their personalities into assertive and confident youths within their communities. During the end of the Football and Child Right session, PS4L coaches and players held a white card in honor of International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. Raising a white card symbolizes the power of sports in uniting communities and in reaching social inclusion.
