PS4L’s TOT (Training of Trainers)

In April and May 2016, PS4L organized a TOT training for participants from East Jerusalem. Fifteen dedicated young people took part in the course for beginners and advanced trainers of like skills education through sports.
The event was organized in cooperation with the German Football Federation and supervised by the coach Niklas Gran.
TOT “Football and Life Skills” workshops are designed to prepare the trainers to use sports and football as an example as a tool to reach out to the youth and teach them life skills. PS4L instructs the trainers and co-lectures in workshops that take place for two levels, beginners and advanced. During the workshops the trainers are assigned w tasks from real-life situations. The knowledge they gain prepares them to run life skills leagues and 4 on4 workshops. The tasks are then reviewed and the participants receive feedback about their work.
PS4L organizes TOT trainings to train local young sports coaches to empower the local children and youth through sports activities. 20 of the trainers Jerusalem and surroundings who will attend the Football and Life Skills course implemented by the German Football Federation (DFB).
In addition to that, PS4L will select trainers and areas to launch 10 sports academies for certified coaches to bring their knowledge and experience to their communities.
PS4L will coordinate the visits to the areas to meet with the local representatives, to choose and coordinate the potentially useful sports fields and to set the time schedule and registration process. In order to ensure sustainability of the programme, PS4L will organize continuous visits to the academies. During these visits PS4L will make sure the trainers keep using the exercises and the structure learnt throughout the training programme, adapted to the local needs and necessities.
