Launch of the Sport for Employability Manual “Kicking Youth Competences”

Local and international joined their knowledge and experience to produce the Sport for Employability Manual “Kicking Youth Competences”. The manual was launched by the vice Minister of Labour, Mr. Mamoun Abu Shahla, and Mrs. Rachel Folz, Deputy Head of Development Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Germany, on August 29th at the facilities of Orthodox Ramallah Sports Club.

It contains the expertise and feedback of coaches working in Palestine with youth, using football to teach them employability skills. The manual was developped in cooperation with the German Football Association (DFB), German Development Cooperation (GIZ), Ministry of Labour, Al Quds University and PS4L and is designed to be used by anybody who works with youth, e.g. vocational counsellors, teachers and social workers.

Among the attendants of the event were representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, universities, vocational training centers, NGOs, and international organisations. All the organizations who work in related fields were invited to participate in the next round of TOT trainings in the Sport for Employability approach, which will be organized by PS4L as two three-day workshops in October and November 2016 (see the upcoming events).

The event included a performance of exercices by Palestinian students, trained by coaches from PS4L and participated in the “Sport for Employability” programmes of German Development Cooperation.
