Wrapping Up the Sports Challenge

Within the framework of the Education Cannot Wait Multi-Year Resilience Programme, UNESCO, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, implemented psychosocial support activities. Its implementing partner Palestine: Sports for Life within the month of June,  hosted a two-week online sports challenge for girls and boys between the ages of 10 to 16, and are enrolled in schools under the Ministry of Education in Palestine.   Students from across Palestine were awarded prizes for their participation in submitting a video demonstrating their capability in replicating a sports challenge. Within the month of June, PS4L hosted a two-week online sports challenge for girls and boys between the ages of 8 to 16, and are enrolled in schools under the Ministry of Education in Palestine. These sports challenges were directed by professional PS4L trainers who did various drills and exercises with a life skill message  for students to learn and replicate their moves.

The challenges were diverse due to the trainers diverse backgrounds: Coach Jihan Shirbeeni (a professional kickboxing coach) challenged the students to do a 3-type pushup and in performing 30 high kicks; Trainer Rada Jasser (a specialized personal trainer) challenged students to a wall-sit and balancing on one leg, shot gun drill and jumping jacks ; life skills trainer Rana Khawaldeh (an accredited coach) challenged the students to planks and squatting; and Coaches Yumon Masri and Renad Mousa (both professional football coaches and life skills trainers) challenged the students to football skills, defense tricks, and drills. PS4L received more than +100 videos from students across Palestine. For their diligence, competence, and committing to the challenge, PS4L announced the names of the +50 students who received a prize.
