Mental Health Sessions
Palestine: Sports for Life (PS4L) in collaboration with Street Child United (SCU) are working together providing the curriculum and sessions needed to implement Mental Health sessions to students in marginalized areas around the West Bank with sessions needed according to their need, especially with the current situation in Palestine.
On November, 14th 2023 PS4L trainer Maysoun Nakhleh conducted the first Mental Health session for 9th grade students in the UNRWA Qalandia Girls school. This session served as a platform for these young girls to openly express their thoughts and emotions, offering them an opportunity to navigate the various life pressures they face. PS4L has successfully created a safe and trusting space where these girls feel comfortable sharing their innermost feelings.
The first session focused on providing an introduction to Mental Health, its origins, potential consequences, and strategies for prevention. By addressing these fundamental aspects, PS4L aims to equip students with the knowledge and tools necessary to foster positive mental well-being. The program underscores the importance of open communication and trust in addressing mental health challenges within the community.
In response to the ongoing challenges in Palestine, particularly considering the current situation, PS4L's Community Program in Tulkarem has adapted its approach to Mental Health sessions. Recognizing the importance of continuity and accessibility, these sessions will now be conducted online through Zoom. This shift to a virtual platform ensures that the valuable mental health support can persist, reaching members of the PS4L community in Tulkarem despite the constraints posed by the circumstances.
