Khutwa Supports Girls And Women Through Sport

In partnership with Frieda – the Feminist Peace Organisation and Swiss Solidarity, Palestine: Sports for Life (PS4L) launched a new phase of the Khutwa Programme in October 2026, reaching girls, mothers, and women from the community across five areas in the West Bank.

Over three months, five coaches will lead sport-based sessions twice a week, with each coach working with 50 participants. The activities combine physical exercise with group discussions and learning, giving participants opportunities to develop skills that support their personal and social wellbeing.

The programme uses sport as an entry point to address issues that affect girls and women in their daily lives, including gender equality, social inclusion, protection and child protection, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). Sessions focus on areas such as emotional regulation, communication, teamwork, confidence, and positive behavioural change.

By integrating sport into educational and community settings, Khutwa encourages girls and women to take an active role in their own development while strengthening relationships and mutual support within their communities.

Through this approach, PS4L continues to use sport as a practical tool for building confidence, strengthening social connections, and supporting positive change within communities.
