From Beginner to Believer: A Journey of Growth Through Football
When I first joined the Tulkarem Programme, I was a beginner with a lot to learn. Football did not come easily to me. I struggled with basic skills such as ball control, passing, and shooting, and often made mistakes that made me feel far from the level I hoped to reach. However, I decided not to give up. I kept practising, learning from my mistakes, and reminding myself that every skilled player starts somewhere.
With every training session, I began to notice small but meaningful changes. My ball control improved, my passes became more accurate, and I started moving around the pitch with greater confidence. I also developed a better understanding of the game. Skills that once seemed difficult gradually became easier, and I learned how to recognise my mistakes and work on correcting them. Each improvement, no matter how small, encouraged me to keep going.
Beyond improving my football skills, the experience taught me important lessons about patience, commitment, and believing in myself. I realised that progress takes time and that everyone develops at their own pace. Making mistakes does not mean failing; it is part of learning and becoming better. I learned to focus on my own progress rather than compare myself with others, and to see every training session as a new opportunity to improve.
Today, I am proud of how far I have come since joining the programme. Although I still have many skills to develop and goals to achieve, I feel more confident in my abilities and more determined to challenge myself. I now understand that reaching my goals requires continuous effort, dedication, and the courage to keep trying, even when things are difficult.
For me, football has become much more than a sport. It has become a journey of personal growth, where every training session brings me one step closer to becoming the player I dream of being. I am grateful to my coaches and the Tulkarem Programme for giving me the opportunity to learn, improve, and discover what I am capable of. Most importantly, I have learned that being a better player starts with believing that I can become one.
