Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Just because Breast Cancer Awareness Month is at an end, does not mean we have to stop the awareness. We want to remind all women of the importance of breast self-examinations every month and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Research shows that a balanced diet and exercising for at least 150 minutes per week decreases the chances of getting breast cancer by 40%.
Here are some simple evidence-based nutrition advice that are can slowly be adopted to be a lifestyle:
- Eat plenty of vegetables and fruit (more than 5 cups a day).
- Eat foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, example: tuna.
- Try to limit saturated fat intake to less than 10% of your total calories per day, and limit your fat intake to about 30 grams per day.
- Avoid trans fats (found in fried foods) and processed meats.
